50 Shades of Grey Trilogy

So last week I succumbed to the hype that is the 50 Shades of Grey Trilogy and bought all the books for an amazing £12 on Amazon. I am a huge reader but I have never been one for erotic friction or 'mummy porn' as some are calling it, but after the first chapter I was hooked. A week after purchasing them I am five chapters into the third book and confident I will finish it before the weekend comes. 'Romantic, liberating and totally addictive. This is a novel that will obsess you, possess you and stay with you forever' - truer words have never been spoken.

Don't get me wrong it's a great insight into the life of a Dom-Sub relationship and at times I felt slightly embarassed reading (being the same age as Anastasia myself), but it's the story behind that which is most captivating. The love, the neglect, the hunger, the desire. Not only has this book extended the minds of most women who read it, but it has given me like others more confidence, more love and more drive.

These books have made me appreciate my boyfriend more, not to take things for granted, to love more and have great confidence in myself in all decisions I make. After reading chapter after chapter I feel liberated and empowered, like I could take on the world. Never has a book given me such confidence and I thank E L James for her imagination and writing. Ladies, if you haven't read these yet I highly recommend you do - you won't regret it. And please, let me know your thoughts if you have read them in the comments section, I'd love to know!

  1. I think it really is a Marmite book - you either love it or you hate it. There seems to be a lot of negative coverage recently with regards the writing etc. however I'm in two minds. I, like you, love the story as far as him being broken and all the other underlying issues that need resolving, but I do find some of her repetition rather irritating. I much prefer the second two books as I wasn't keen at first of how Anastacia acted in the first. She claimed to be independent but then immediately consented to the way she was treated. Without giving anything away, the end of the first book and since then, has changed my mind about her character and I am intrigued to see how they finish. Plus, I cannot wait for the film to be cast! xx

  3. Though I read erotica books, I have yet to read this trilogy. I have heard the writing was not that great.

  4. What an amazing assessment Tanya! You are totally tempting me. I have a total addictive personality and I don't have room for anymore obsession. Hopefully you will give updates and I will live vicariously through you!
